The Montessori Nido is a calm, cosy, homelike environment for children (means nest in Italian). The environment is created to allow your child to move freely. It is a space to explore, build muscle tone, fall without getting hurt and practice skills until mastered.

At The Nido room you will not find playpens, baby gates or other devices to impede your child's need to move, learn and explore. Certain safety measures are in place as your child's safety is of the utmost importance; such as outlet covers, wires out of reach, medication, food up high and out of reach as well as cabinets/shelves/ large furniture fastened down.

You will also notice there are no duplicates of toys. This is to promote patience and taking turns.

Our philosophy isn't to force sharing but to say " that toy is not available right now". This will allow the child to choose something else and have patience and to allow the opportunity for the other child to practice empathy and awareness for others and choose to share the toy.

Each child is allotted their own cubby where they are responsible for storing their clothes and shoes and self care items. They will be able to learn how to dress themselves for outdoor play and learn to choose weather appropriate attire. Each child will also have their own dish set and will be responsible for setting their own table for meal time and washing their own dish set post meal.
